Dreading going through your receipts?

Got a shoebox full of receipts?  Aren’t even sure where all your business receipts are?  I have been there and it was a nightmare!

If you are a business owner, then you can relate to keeping track of all the papers and receipts.  Keeping a record or receipt of your purchase is vital to keeping good records in case of an audit.

I have had seasons of life where I just didn’t make the time to organize my receipts as I went and was left staring at a giant pile of unorganized receipts when I sat down to do my taxes.

Ugh, I was so mad at myself for not keeping everything organized and having to spend hours, (who am I kidding DAYS) sorting everything out.  It was not fun and I swore to never do that again.

I found some simple ways to keep all my receipts and expenses organized and it doesn’t require sitting down for hours, just a few seconds on my phone.

Quickbooks Self-employed is my favorite, this app is great for categorizing expenses quickly and incorporating them into the Quickbooks accounting software seamlessly.

Neat.com is another great app for organizing receipts without having to buy Quickbooks.  If you like to keep track of your business transactions on a spreadsheet or pen and paper, then this app will help with receipts and give you nice and neat totals come tax time.

I have also tried an app Taxbot that tracks mileage and expenses all in one app.  This is a great way to track your deductions on the go in one spot.

I recommend that you keep a digital copy of all your receipts as some paper receipts have ink that disappears over time or with heat.  You do not want to be left with a stack of blank receipts if you get audited.

It is never too late to start getting your business receipts organized, so start now if you haven’t already.
